Macon Mystics 27, Allatoona 13

The young Macon Mystics (1-3) secured their first win of the season over a shorthanded Allatoona (1-3) who was without three starters including their starting front court of Jaasira Fossitt and Maddie Gamblin. 2023 5-6 G Jada Morgan (Jones County) set the tone with nine of her game-high 11 points in the first half. The star freshman added 3 rebounds and 6 steals to her ledger as Allatoona struggled with her aggressiveness. 2023 5-5 G Kimmya Epps (Jones County) turned in another strong performance with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Her energy played a key role in the Mystics racking up 15 team steals. 2023 5-8 F Deziya McLendon (Macon County) stole the show with her effort on the glass, gobbling up a CTC record 18 rebounds to go with her 6 points. McLendon hunted down every carom and fought for every ball in her area against the undersized Buccaneers. 2020 5-3 G Grace Bosley led Allatoona with 5 points. 2022 5-6 G Alexis Redding pitched in 2 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. 2023 5-8 F Alliyah Turner ripped down 5 rebounds.

Allatoona 52, Marietta 2 27

Four players scored in double figures as Allatoona (4-0) rolled past Marietta 2 (0-4). The Buccaneers have been a well-oiled machine on Sundays and the 15th wasn’t an exception. Allatoona’s cohesion along with overall talent has been a deadly combination. The 2021 core was outstanding again, this time with 2021 6-3 F Kevin Taylor taking the lead with 15 points (2 threes), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Taylor has been a trustworthy stat sheet stuffer every weekend, but he isn’t the only one. 2021 6-4 F Cam Baldwin‘s energy was infectious. The owner of one of the league’s top motors put together 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal and 4 blocks. Baldwin’s effort on both ends of the floor kept the Bucs engaged for the full 40 minutes. 2021 6-5 F Marshall Willingham showed the diversity of his game, hitting a three en route to 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. Lastly, the engine of the Buccaneers, 2021 5-11 PG Isaiah Logan, pushed the ball in transition and found open teammates. The true point guard finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Allatoona’s big four have proven to be the cornerstone for the program halfway through the Fall League, but 2020 5-11 G RJ Shaw II is equally important. The shifty guard had 4 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 1 steal. Marietta 2 trailed 22-13 at the half before falling off Allatoona’s torrid pace. 2022 6-6 F Izaiyah Nelson had some eye-opening plays for the Blue Devils, highlighted by a few chase down blocks. Nelson finished with 5 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocks. 2022 6-0 G Charles Gauthier led Marietta with 6 points and 3 rebounds while 2023 6-2 G Isaac Jones posted 5 points and 4 rebounds.

East Paulding 32, Kennesaw Mountain 16

After finding themselves up just 14-9 at the half against Kennesaw Mountain (0-4), East Paulding (3-1) stepped on the afterburners and erupted in the second half thanks to a trapping defense to led to 10 steals. Playing in front of Shorter University and Truett McConnell, 2021 5-3 G Lucy Stewart caught fire for the Lady Raiders. Stewart canned 3 threes on her way to 13 points, 2 rebounds and 1 block. Rebounding machine 2022 5-9 F Halle Verkerk posted 9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block while showing range out to the three-point line on offense. 2020 5-9 G Kimberlyn Black tallied 5 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Kennesaw Mountain had momentum in the first half behind 2021 6-0 F Madison Clark who scored six of her team-high 9 points in the first half. Clark had 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block inside. 2021 5-10 F Shanique Reid added 4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block.

Cass 46, Paulding County 33

Cass (2-2) pulled even in the standings after outlasting Paulding County (2-2) in an emotion-filled and action-packed game. 2021 5-11 G Braxton Benham continues to trend upward. Benham scored 10 of his game-high 12 points in the second half after trailing Paulding County 17-11 at the break. Benham threw down three dunks including an electric breakaway late in the second half. Benham sparked his offense with his defense, pick-pocketing his way to 6 steals and 1 block. 2020 5-8 G JaQuan Heard was the second head of Cass’ pesky backcourt. Heard scored eight of his 9 points in the second half and added 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. The front court for Cass was equally effective. 2022 6-6 F Zaylan Chaney had 8 points — all in the second half — 5 rebounds and 1 assist while 2020 6-5 F Alfred Washington finished with 6 points and 3 rebounds. Top 20 point guard in the state according to Sandy’s Spiel2020 6-1 PG Keon Sedgwick suffered his first off game of the season with 5 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, but 2021 6-5 W Kervens Yacinthe picked up the slack with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Athletic 2020 6-4 F Elijah Branch collected 5 steals in the loss.

South Paulding 49, Hillgrove 47

South Paulding (2-2) won its second nail-biter in a row as the Spartans held off Hillgrove (1-3) behind a brilliant performance by 2020 6-2 SG Caleb Duncan in front of Chattahoochee Valley Community College. Duncan cashed in 5 threes and gave South Paulding enough cushion on a bucket with 15.5 seconds left to help ice the game. Duncan had 25 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal followed by 2020 6-3 F BJ Bryant‘s 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. 2021 6-6 F Carrieun Mathis took a step in the right direction. The raw, long-armed defensive anchor posted 4 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks. 2020 6-0 G Jaden Hannon had a chance to play hero for Hillgrove  after getting fouled on a three-pointer down three, but Hannon could only go 1-for-3 from the line. Hannon scored a team-high 17 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. 2020 6-3 W Jalen Jackson hit 3 threes in a row to keep the game close and finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. 2020 6-5 F Arinze Ekwinche muscled his way to 5 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks while quick-handed guard 2020 5-10 G TJ Ishmail contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.

EOTO Sisters 34, North Paulding 24

In the battle of unbeatens, EOTO Sisters (4-0) methodically inched ahead of North Paulding (3-1) in front of college coaches. 2022 5-9 F Aliyah Washington didn’t disappoint, double-doubling for the Wolfpack with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block, but EOTO countered with a steady balanced attack. 2020 6-0 C Taylor Doucet (Pace Academy) won the war in the paint with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. 2020 5-6 G Dekyia Cofield (Villa Rica) tacked on 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a hustle chase down block on the fast break. 2020 5-7 G Kyndal Coleman (Villa Rica) had game-altering activity, tallying 5 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. 2020 5-6 G Dasia Wyatt had 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 block while 2023 5-6 G Makiala Bullock (Hiram) added 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block. As a team, EOTO swatted away 6 shots, with six different players recording a single block. 2021 5-3 G Adrianna Olivera provided scrappiness to the North Paulding Wolfpack with 4 points, 1 assist and 2 steals while 2021 5-6 G Caroline Ariaz had 3 points and 2 blocks.

East Paulding 45, Marietta 1 36

With college coaches in the gym, 2020 6-5 F Sean Rutledge carried East Paulding (3-1) to another win, hanging 22 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Marrietta 1 (2-2) had a hard time matching Rutledge’s star power but 2021 6-4 F Andre Hanes battled well with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. 2022 6-0 G Eric Howard Jr. played a balanced game with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal. 2021 6-0 G MaKyle Lockett did the same with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. 2021 6-3 W Kristian Ford returned to action for East Paulding after a bout of mononucleosis, scoring 5 points. 2022 6-3 W Sebastian Tidor chipped in 8 points and 4 rebounds.
